John Constable [John Constable]
(1776–1837) an English painter who is considered to be one of the greatest English ↑landscape artists. He often painted scenes from the countryside of ↑East Anglia, especially along the River Stour, an area that is now described in tourist advertisements as Constable Country. One of the most famous of these paintings is ↑Hay Wain. A large collection of his work was given by his daughter to the ↑Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
